Wasantha Mudalige’s release is contested by the AG in a Colombo High Court revision application…

The Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF) convenor Wasantha Mudalige was ordered released from charges under the Prevention of Terrorism Act after the Colombo Chief Magistrate issued an order to that effect. The Attorney General has filed a revision application with the Colombo High Court asking for the nullification of that order (PTA).

Mudalige was held for 162 days under the PTA after being arrested on accusations brought under the PTA on August 22, 2022. On January 31, Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis discharged Mudalige from these charges since it was determined that the accused had not violated any PTA-related offenses.
