Wasantha Mudalige along with another 56 brought before court…

Wasantha Mudalige, the convenor of the Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF), and the other 57 individuals who were detained yesterday (February 23) for storming the Ministry of Education were now brought before the court (24 Feb.).

48 Buddhist monks in total, together with nine other people, including Mudalige, were detained yesterday after breaking into the Ministry of Education’s Pelawatte, Battaramulla, offices.

The students burst into the building and demanded that the university be reopened and that the Sri Lanka Police be held accountable for the excessive force used against them during the Wednesday Satyagraha at Pitipana Junction in Homagama (22 Feb.).
