Two detained for stealing Guns and live ammunition….

Two people have been detained on suspicion of stealing a T-56 rifle with three magazines and a supply of 90 rounds that belonged to a Sri Lankan Army soldier on duty at a security guard post at the Panagoda Army Base.

 

According to the police, the arrest was made early yesterday (March 15) during a targeted operation by the Criminal Investigation Department’s (CID) Murder and Organized Crime Unit.

 

A former army soldier and an army sergeant who helped the former soldier while he was hiding out are among those detained. The former army soldier is suspected of stealing the gun and the ammunition.
