The Government to abide the Supreme Court….

Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Sri Lanka’s State Minister of Finance, declared on Saturday (4) that the government will abide by the Supreme Court’s temporary injunction against the withholding of monies from the budget designated for the 2023 Local Government election. Thus, he said, the proper actions would be done.

The country’s Financial Secretary and the Attorney General, who represents the Finance Minister, were given a temporary injunction by Sri Lanka’s Supreme Court on Friday (3) prohibiting them from withholding any monies earmarked by the 2023 Budget for the Local Government Election 2023.

The interim order was made after General Secretary of the Samagi Jana Balavegaya Ranjith Madduma Bandara’s application was given permission to be examined.
