Student drowned near Polgolla Dam…..

According to reports, a school student drowned while taking a swim close to the Polgolla Dam in Kandy. 

According to the Police Headquarters, the event happened as four schoolchildren were taking a swim roughly 300 meters below the Polgolla Dam. 

According to the authorities, two of the four pupils involved had been lost to strong water currents. 

The two students were saved by the locals, who then hurriedly transported them to the Kandy Teaching Hospital, where one of them was later declared dead. 

According to police, the 17-year-old deceased student lived on Thiththwawela Road in Kandy.
