Sri Lankan Airline Renews commercial operations towards China…

As soon as China reopens its borders in the first week of April 2023, SriLankan Airlines plans to resume commercial operations there with three times-weekly flights to Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou, respectively.

Before the pandemic, China was a significant source market for foreign visitors to Sri Lanka and one of the country’s top markets for leisure travellers. According to the airline, SriLankan Airlines is preparing for a successful return to China after its departure.

On April 3, 2023, SriLankan will begin operating passenger flights to Shanghai. As a result, flights will operate every Monday, Thursday, and Friday from Colombo to Shanghai and every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from Shanghai to Colombo.

On April 3, 2023, Colombo-Beijing flights will also start, with weekly departures planned for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The ensuing days will see the departure of the return planes to Colombo.

Colombo and Guangzhou are now connected by a weekly route operated by SriLankan Airlines; a second flight will begin operation on March 4, 2023, according to the airline.
