Sri Lanka to the commission on the status of women……

By unanimous vote on April 5, 2023, in New York, the members of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) elected Sri Lanka to the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). 

As a result, Sri Lanka will be a member of the CSW from 2024 to 2028 for a four-year period. 

The Foreign Affairs Minister stated in a news statement that Sri Lanka’s candidacy was based on the nation’s long history of advancing and defending women’s and girls’ rights at the national level, as well as its dedication to eradicating gender-based discrimination.
