Sri Lanka and France on road to prevent illegal migration…

France and Sri Lanka are negotiating to expand their operational cooperation to stop illegal immigration.
This was extensively discussed on Wednesday(Feb 01) during a meeting between Public Security Minister Tiran Alles and French Ambassador to Sri Lanka Jean-François Pactet.
The discussion was held a few days after 38 Sri Lankans was deported by French authorities on the French island of Réunion on January 25 following the failure of an illegal sea migration attempt on January 14.
Pactet reaffirmed France’s support for enhancing bilateral ties between the two countries and stated that France is steadfast in its resolve to obstruct traffickers’ activities.
