SC postpones hearing of petition differing LG elections…

The hearing of the case seeking to delay the local government election has been postponed by the Supreme Court.
The petition, brought by retired Army Colonel W.M.R. Wijesundara, will thus be heard once more on February 23.
The appeal asks the court to postpone the local government election, citing the ongoing economic crisis.
The respondents to the petition are the Attorney General, the Prime Minister, the Secretary to the Finance Ministry,
and the Chairman of the Election Commission, Nimal G. Punchihewa.
