President guarantees un interrupted electricity….

After the most recent tariff change is put into effect, President Ranil Wickremesinghe has instructed the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) staff and Power & Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera to guarantee that customers continue to receive electricity.
According to the President’s Media Division, the Head of State also granted instructions to provide subsidies to low-income households and solar rooftop systems to government, educational, and religious institutions (PMD).
The directions were issued a day after the CEB revealed that the Public Utilities Commission had approved its request for a 66% rise in electricity rates in order to raise an additional LKR 287 billion in revenue and prevent losses.
The Sri Lanka Electricity Act 2009 provisions were used by the CEB, the licensee, in a request for the modification of electricity pricing on January 5.
