Letter for approval of funds for the LG sent Finance Minister……

The letter requesting funding for the Local Government Election was sent to the Finance Minister for approval, according to information provided to the country’s Election Commission by Sri Lanka’s Finance Secretary.

This was in response to the letter the Election Commission wrote to the Finance Secretary on March 7th, requesting funding for the Local Government Election.

Advocate Nimal Punchihewa, the chairman of the Election Commission, stated that the Finance Secretary had advised him that, given the nation’s current circumstances, his consent alone would not be sufficient to provide finances for the Local Government Election.
