Hakeem’s thoughts on the General Election…

Speaking at a gathering on Saturday, parliamentarian Rauff Hakeem urged President Ranil Wickremesinghe to hold general elections (4).
The President claims that a parliamentary election is necessary to change a government and that local government elections are useless. Hold a general election if necessary. An election is what we require. A general election should be held instead, he said.
According to Rauff Hakeem, the government should permit citizens to vote in the local government elections because elections are the only way to address the nation’s economic problems.
