Gazette to ban plastic import….

Today is the scheduled publication date for the Extraordinary Gazette announcement on the importation ban on a number of plastic items (April 10). 

According to the Central Environmental Authority, the Department of Government Printing has already received the pertinent gazette notification from the Ministry of Finance, Economic Stabilization, and National Policy. 

A restriction on the importation of numerous plastic products will take effect on June 1st, 2023, following publication of the Extraordinary Gazette notification. 

The list of plastic products that cannot be imported includes single-use drinking straws, plates, stirrers, cups (save for yoghurt cups), spoons, forks, and knives, as well as plastic string hopper trays and garlands.
