Escapees Detained…..

According to a facility official, all nine of the offenders who broke out of the Thaldena Open Prison Rehabilitation Center in Badulla are currently being held.

Early on yesterday (April 17), the convicts had left the rehabilitation facility.

Soon after, the rehabilitation center’s staff sprung into action and were able to apprehend two escapees close to the facility’s farm.

Around 6.30 p.m. yesterday, four more people were captured after a search operation including locals in Baduluoya, Kandaketiya, was conducted.

The remaining three, meantime, were apprehended this morning at around 4:00 a.m. close to Kiriwehera, Kandaketiya.
