Election to be postponed….

Due to a lack of funding and support from state institutions, Sri Lanka’s Election Commission will meet on Friday, 23 to make a final decision about the 2023 Local Government Election.
The Election Commission had already agreed to hold the Local Government Election on March 9, 2023.
Unfortunately, the National Election Commission had to postpone the postal voting process that was supposed to take place this week because the Government Printer had refused to produce the vote papers due to a payment dispute.
The Local Government Election was legitimately called, according to the country’s constitutions and the election legislation, according to Advocate Nimal Punchihewa, the Chairman of the National Election.
