Election commission to meet PM….

Today, Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardene and the Election Commission are slated to have a special meeting (April 10). 

The meeting will take place this morning, according to the Prime Minister’s Media Division. 

The Election Commission wrote to Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardene on March 26 to request a meeting to discuss holding the Local Government (LG) elections in 2023. 

As a result, all Election Commission members will take part in the pertinent conversation today, according to Nimal G. Punchihewa, the commission’s chairman. 

Since the Treasury failed to allocate the required funds for the election, there is uncertainty over the holding of the 2023 LG elections.
