Defendants appealed of Vidya’s Case……..

The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing for the appeals filed by the defendants who received the death penalty in connection with the 2015 kidnapping, gang rape, and murder of Sivaloganathan Vidya, a schoolgirl, demanding their release from the penalties imposed on them.

The Supreme Court bench, composed of Justices Preethi Padman Surasena, Gamini Amarasekara, and Arjuna Obeysekera, heard the appeal petitions today (March 20).

The judicial bench decided to hear the appeals on October 6 after taking into account the information given.

The relevant case’s defendants, including the lead accuser “Swiss Kumar,” were brought before the court by prison personnel under tight security.
