China sends aid to Earthquake refugees in Turkey…

After a devastating earthquake slammed the area on Monday, killing more than 5,000 people and leaving over 24,000 injured in both Turkey and Syria, China declared it will try its utmost to help. The first shipment of assistance to Turkey will total 40 million Chinese yuan ($5.9 million), and rescue and medical teams as well as emergency supplies will also be sent, according to Mao Ning, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). Beijing is working with Syria to coordinate emergency supplies and is moving quickly to carry out ongoing efforts to provide food help, Mao said. China’s MOFA also verified that no Chinese nationals have been reported dead as of yet in the earthquake. According to state-run media outlet Xinhua, Chinese President Xi Jinping extended condolences to his counterparts in Turkey and Syria, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Bashar al-Assad, on Monday as rescue workers looked for survivors among the demolished structures.
