Chief Diplomate for the EU Assaulted…….

According to Josep Borrell, the chief diplomat for the EU in Sudan, the ambassador was attacked on Monday while conflict between opposing generals engulfed the country.

Borrell stated on Twitter that the EU Ambassador to Sudan had been assaulted “a few hours ago” without mentioning any injuries the ambassador may have sustained.

“Security of diplomatic premises and staff is a primary responsibility of Sudanese authorities and an obligation under international law,” he continued.

Aidan O’Hara, an Irish diplomat in his 58th year, is the ambassador of the European Union to Sudan. He was “OK” following the incident, according to EU spokeswoman Nabila Massrali to AFP.
