Cabinet approves the amends of the ETF Act…

The Legal Draftsman has been given permission by the Cabinet of Ministers to instruct him to draft a bill amending the Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF) Act.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe suggested creating a health insurance fund for workers in the private sector in his address on the 2023 budget, similar to the “Agrahara” insurance program from which a lot of government employees have benefited.

Therefore, in order to execute the aforementioned budget proposal, the ETF Act No. 46 of 1980 will be amended to include the essential elements.

At the Cabinet meeting on Monday (Feb. 6), President Wickremesinghe, who is also the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilisation, and National Policies, proposed that the Legal Draftsman be given the go-ahead to draft a bill for the amends of the ETF Act.
