Basic Salary to be settled….

For the period from March 9 to April 25, the Basic Salary of Government Employees Running in the Local Government (LG) Election has been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. 

According to the Government Information Agency, at least 3,000 public employees who have submitted nominations for the election are now on unpaid leave. 

The government workers running for office, however, are having financial difficulties as a result of the numerous postponements of the LG election and the extension of their unpaid leave. 

It was therefore decided to pay these government workers their base salaries for the aforementioned time period. 

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, who is also the Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils, and Local Government, had made the recommendation.
