Aragalaya Activists celebrates an anniversary….

This afternoon, a gathering of “Aragalaya” protestors gathered close to the home of the former president, Gotabaya Rajapaksa (31 March).

The event was planned to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the chaotic scenes that ensued after hundreds of demonstrators demonstrated in Mirihana calling for Rajapaksa’s resignation and led to the detention of dozens of people.

This afternoon, there was a tense incident between the demonstrators and the police, and several people were detained.
