A Vote in Parliament….

Following a vote in Parliament, the proposal to suggest that the Attorney General act on the findings of the Select Committee, which was established to look into potential violations of MPs’ and Parliament’s privileges, was approved.

 

Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella demanded a vote when the ruling group tried to pass the motion.

 

There were 75 votes cast in favor of the motion and 43 against it.

 

Hence, with 32 votes in favor, the motion was approved.

 

Voting in support were the United National Party, Ceylon Workers Congress, and Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.
