A misfire killed an innocent Woman amidst a raid…

Two Sri Lanka Army members were detained by the Borella Police in connection with the death of a woman who was shot last night during a raid at Dematagoda (13).

According to reports, the incident happened late last night at a home in the Halgahakumbura neighborhood on Baseline Mawatha in the Borella police district.

The victim, a 25-year-old lady who lives in the same neighborhood, has been identified.

According to the police, the woman was hurt when one of the two army troops’ service weapons inadvertently discharged while they were trying to apprehend a suspect.She was then taken to the hospital right after, but she passed away from her injuries not long after.

The deceased’s body has been brought to the Colombo National Hospital mortuary while additional inquiries are being made by the Borella Police.
