Animal Welfare Bill to be discussed….

The long-awaited Animal Welfare Bill will be discussed at a ministerial level meeting in two weeks, according to the Parliament’s Communications Department.
This was decided at a meeting of the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Agriculture in Parliament on March 7, where invited speakers spoke about the necessity of this law, including attorney Lalani S. Perera.
It was stated that Sri Lanka’s current legislation for animal care are relatively dated and insufficient to safeguard animals’ rights.
