2023 the year od national unity and reconciliation….

According to Sri Lanka’s foreign secretary, Aruni Wijewardane, 2023 has been designated as the year of national unity, healing, and reconciliation.

She said this during today’s Commonwealth Day ceremony where State Minister for Foreign Affairs Tharaka Balasuriya raised the Commonwealth National Flag for Peace (March 13).

Officials from the Foreign Ministry attended the event, signifying Sri Lanka’s dedication to the common values and guiding principles of the Commonwealth.

An initiative started by the Commonwealth Secretariat in accordance with this year’s theme, “Forging a Sustainable and Peaceful Common Future,” encourages member nations to hoist the Commonwealth of Nations Flag for Peace as a sign of their joint commitment to peace.
